Latham Makes a Splash During National Water Safety Month with Bode Miller

Every May, Water Safety Month encourages families to take steps to enjoy the swimming season safely. This year, our client Latham Pools made waves with a pool safety awareness campaign led by Olympic gold medalist and World Champion skier Bode Miller.

When planning the campaign, we knew we needed a voice who could speak to the issue with both passion and credibility. That’s why we partnered with Bode Miller, an advocate for drowning prevention after he tragically lost his 19-month-old daughter in an accidental pool drowning in 2018. Bode’s personal story and commitment to safety helped shape a powerful campaign that put Latham’s message front and center throughout Water Safety Month. At the heart of the effort was a Satellite Media Tour (SMT), where Bode shared simple, life-saving tips, like enrolling children in swim lessons and installing Latham’s Coverstar automatic pool covers, on national and local media outlets like KTLA and Us Weekly.

To extend the reach of the campaign, we developed and distributed a press release featuring pool safety tips and highlighting Latham’s Coverstar automatic pool covers as a vital step for water safety. The message resonated not only with families, but also across the pool and spa industry, leading to media placements in key trade outlets like Pool Magazine, Aqua Magazine and PoolPro.

The campaign helped elevate Latham as both a trusted pool manufacturer and a leader in pool safety advocacy. By combining heartfelt storytelling with timely media outreach, we were able to drive meaningful awareness around pool safety and the importance of auto covers.
