As the most trusted brand in home and fire safety, LCWA client First Alert conducts extensive outreach to fire services nationwide and supports numerous organizations to assist in raising awareness of fire and carbon monoxide (CO) threats. As part of this effort, First Alert teams up with the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Fire Department to host “Take Charge of Safety” events, which educate elementary school-aged children in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) across the city about the importance of fire and CO safety for the whole family.

To close out the 2021-2022 school year, hundreds of CPS students were invited to a “Take Charge of Safety” event at the United Center for an on-court experience they wouldn’t soon forget. In addition to stressing the importance of fire safety education for kids, Chicago firefighters answered students’ questions and organized activities at the arena. The program concluded in an assembly with an educational safety presentation and entertainment from Benny the Bull and the Incredibulls – the cheer and stunt team of the Chicago Bulls.

LCWA set out to promote the event and the importance of teaching kids about whole home safety, including knowing what to do when an alarm sounds and practicing ‘stop, drop and roll’ exercises. As part of our media outreach, we secured segments on Chicago’s CBS, ABC and NBC affiliate stations, as well as WGN-TV. This season-ending event comes on the heels of a February event at Pullman Elementary School, which was featured on NBC Chicago.

In total for the 2021-2022 school year, we garnered more than 82 million media impressions to showcase First Alert’s partnership with the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Fire Department. This program is just one of the many collaborative events First Alert supports every year to positively impact the long-term safety for both families and their communities.
